Coffee in General
Although
we have all consumed many cups of coffee during our lives, most of us
still do not fully understand where coffee comes from and how it grows.
Not
only will you be astonished when you finish this breathtaking yet informative
tour, but you will have a new respect for the cup of coffee. Coffee
grows at high altitudes on steep slopes.
On this tour, you will see all the processes involved with coffee production,
first seeing the coffee plantation high in the mountains and then the
entire process of coffee cultivation (harvesting, cleaning, washing,
drying, selecting, roasting, grounding ect.) that turn a green red bean
into a cup of rich dark liquid, called coffee.
There are two main qualities of coffee: Arabica and Robusta, Costa Rica
produces only the Robusta quality which is of the highest quality.The
darkness of the coffee depends only on the roasting; Espresso coffee
is done with a mixture of Robusta (60 %) and Arabica ( 40%) very dark
roasted.Going
home, you will bring with you the aroma of Costa Rica, taking with you
some gourmet coffee;it is very inexpensive yet absolutly delicious,
we will explain which coffee to buy and how to keep it as fresh as the
day it was harvested in Costa Rica.
FACT: Caffine free coffee is more expensive; it seems strange
but it is true; if you want to know why, come visit us and take the
coffee tour!
